Welcome everyone!

Thanks for exploring my website and allowing me to share and connect with you.

Meet Maggie

My name is Maggie Schnücker and I’m a fiber artist living in Central Texas with my husband, Christian, our Trout and our beagle, Georgia.  I work from home creating nature inspired embroidery, patterns, and a Monthly Pattern Subscription.

2017 was a busy year that brought about a great deal of exciting and emotional changes for me.  In the Spring, before graduating from college with my degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a focus on Graphic Design AND getting married, I was diagnosed with multiple chronic illnesses, including Celiac Disease.

With my health concerns and struggles of working in front of a computer daily, I became burnt out and picked up embroidery as a hobby.  I always enjoyed, and was missing, working with my hands and textures.  Having explored pottery in the past, I entered the world of embroidery and quickly realized my passion for fiber art.  By the end of the first week, I created stacks of embroidery hoop art!  At 22, I began my love affair with all things embroidery. I share this with you as encouragement that if you are a beginner exploring embroidery for the first time, age doesn’t matter at all.

After exploring other jobs, I decided to focus on my fiber art full time.  I am so thankful to have a deeply supportive and kind husband who has been my champion in me taking my art and creativity to new heights.  I chose to sell my finished embroidery pieces and eventually patterns so that others could create along with me.

My embroidery became a way to share my art, cope with my health and connect with people in a way that I had never imagined.  This has become the absolute best part of my business!  I am doing what I love, making patterns, sharing it with people and connecting with others by sharing my story, all through my business.

I look forward to seeing what you have created.

It’s all about nature, creativity, love and encouragement.  So much of my embroidery is inspired by nature, and I also love working with lettering, composition and color.

Get to Know More About My Shop

To begin, my shop name comes from a combination of my name (Maggie) + my mother’s middle name (Jami Jo). My mom is my inspiration, and she is a big part of who I am today. She is my constant source of encouragement to always create things and to do what I want to do most in this world. I am so excited to share that my shop has grown from creating only finished artwork to adding commissions and now adding patterns and my new Flourish Club.

I am fortunate to utilize the art and design knowledge I gained while in school every single day. My design process begins with an idea that I journaled, then it takes on the form of a rough sketch, goes to my computer, then to my tablet and comes back full circle to paper and ultimately onto the fabric. As a self-instructed embroiderer, I tend to veer from the traditional techniques and stitches to my own freestyle once the design is drawn onto my hoop.

It’s exciting that embroidery has been around for thousands of years with such a variety of styles and techniques to explore. I am 100% self-taught so my pattern instructions may look somewhat different if you are an experienced needlework maker. My favorite part about this art is that there is plenty of room for unique creativity, style and technique. I encourage you to experiment with different patterns to find out what you enjoy best.

I’m always looking for charities and movements to support and elevate with my platform and frequently donate percentages of my Monthly Pattern Subscription profits. From The Trevor Project to local charities. If you have suggestions or ideas for places you want to see financially supported, please reach out! Maggie Jo’s Studio is a safe place for LGBTQIA+ People, for Women, All Black Lives and BIPOC
